Clayton Breakfast Room Pouch

The Celtic interlace pattern decorating the pouch has been adapted from the ornamented plaster of the Clayton breakfast room ceiling. Interlace patterns, which employ as a central motif a knot composed of cords woven into an unbroken path, were introduced to 19th-century America through Celtic book illumination.
