This open edition matted print is by artist Brett Mason who works almost exclusively in oil painting and watercolors. He attended Clarion University as an art major with a concentration in oil painting. Mason is based in Pittsburgh where he lives with his wife and three boys. Though he works with a broad range of subject matter, the select work featured here at the Frick highlights his study of Pittsburgh landmarks and architecture. Mason’s work can be seen in both private and corporate collections, nationally and internationally.
I am a creator, thinker, father, and seeker of the unknown. I draw, paint, doodle, humor, strum...I go where inspiration leads while trying to remain grounded to the positive and energizing. This has lead me meandering the beaches of California to the Outer banks of North Carolina selling works of art, on stage in New York's East Village singing songs, and by other means of energy, into the Boston Marathon. I try to set a good example and inspire everyone to do what they love. Subject matter varies depending on where I may be but the common element is a focus on the general atmosphere and effects of light.
