This catalog highlights the exhibition Isabelle de Borchgrave: Fahioning Art From Paper which was on view at the Frick Pittsburgh from October 13, 2018 to January 6, 2019. From replicas of Renaissance Italian gowns to recreations of the fantastical modernist costumes of Les Ballet Russes, Isabelle de Borchgrave's work is meticulously crafted and astonishingly beautiful. This major exhibition presents the full breadth of Isabelle de Borchgrave's exploration of historical costume through contemporary paper sculpture. The exhibition also includes one new work - the Frick's recently commissioned piece inspired by one of our collection's best-known paintings - Peter Paul Rubens' Portrait of Charlotte-Marguerite de Montmorency, Princess of Conde.
