Landscape and History since 1500

Landscape and History since 1500 draws on material from social, economic and cultural history, environmental history, the history of art, historical geography, archaeology and planning; but it is also grounded in landscape history and historical/cultural geography, with its focus specifically on rural landscapes. Because the subject of this book is examined from myriad lenses, the wider context of British and European landscapes can be explored from many angles.  The author also charts changing perceptions and portrayals of landscape in paintings, poetry, novels, and cartography.
